Surveillance Services

Surveillance is an important and highly beneficial tool when Detectives carry out investigations, it can take many forms.

• • Mobile surveillance:
• • Monitoring a persons activities by discreetly following on foot or in vehicles
• • Static observations:
• • Monitoring activity at certain locations by use of covert surveillance vehicle/s (or operatives located in premises or camouflaged).
• • Technical surveillance:
• • With use of hidden or disguised cameras and audio or tracking devices, or some other technical means.

All AIS surveillance staff, male and female, have been trained to the Home Office National standard, their activities are monitored with regular refresher training and post surveillance de-briefs.

Not "two men and a van!", we will use at least three and up to five covert vehicles if required, fully fitted with radios, a motorcycle is also available. All team members are issued with a video camera, stills camera, and covert personal radios.
